Hi there! Welcome to the “Can Mama Do It?” experiment!
If you love food, and you love recipes that are fairly easy but are also really impressive, then you are in the right spot!
(I’m also hoping you like all things cute, kittens, fashion, pop culture, entertainment and my adorable little girls!)
My name is Jan. My friends call me Jany. Nice to meetcha! 🙂 <3
I’m not a professional Chef. I am just a mom who has a passionate love for cooking and for my family.
I’ve been married to my best friend, Jonathan, for ten years and we are the proud parents of the two sweetest, kindest, most thoughtful (and adorable) little girls on Earth.
Chloe Angel is 8 and Haley Love is 6.
My little squad!
Jonathan is the suit and tie type. A man of many talents. He’s extraordinary and a classically “Gen X” male. He’ll be rapping Ice Cube to our grandkids one day.
He’s also very supportive and is the best Executive Director of Tasting you can find.
More about Me? I’ve been in sales my entire career and I am offish OVER it.
I am am quite honestly, just an exhausted old gal who last year had to leave a very high stress sales job due to a thyroid disease called Graves. I almost didn’t make it.
I went through treatment for the disease in November of 2014 and the GREAT NEWS is that I am finally starting to feel like a normal person again, but now there’s a new problem:
I’ve grown addicted to being home with my girls and I just can’t go back to being in sales.
What if I’m not meant to spend everyday trying to talk someone into buying some crap they don’t want or need?
What if I can do more? What if I can BE more?
I don’t want to go back to leaving the house before my girls have opened their little eyes and getting home just before they fall gently closed again.
Now that I’m home, I’m able to wake them up every morning with cuddles. I get to do their hair. I get to be a room mom. I don’t want to give that up.
I wanna stay.
Also… I want to make them proud of me. I want to build something that maybe they could be part of one day. Something that we can all do as a family. That’s where the blog comes in.
Can I take my love of cooking and pop culture and turn it into some kind of viable career for myself and a living for my family?
Can I create a web presence and perhaps sell my own original recipes online?
Can I keep and maintain a blog with no real computer, coding or writing skillz?
